The AISS hosts launching ceremony of DROPS’ Afg-Pak Policy Brief Today, the Afghan Institute for Strategic Studies (AISS) hosted the launching ceremony of ‘Women, Peace and Security: Afghanistan-Pakistan Women’s Policy Brief’, a new initiative by Organization for Policy and Development Studies (DROPS).
The Brief aims to assist decision-makers navigate similar peace and security issues facing Afghanistan and Pakistan, as well as provide guidance to the respective governments by gathering women’s perspectives on solutions to peace and security in the two countries.
Scores of Afghan law-makers, political experts, policy-makers, representatives of UNAMA, representatives of civil society and media participated in the ceremony.
Ms. Mariam Safi, Director General of DROPS, presented an overview of the policy-brief which has been developed in collaboration with a PEAD Foundation of Pakistan. Discussant talked on important role women can play within peace negotiations and argued that such policy briefs are vital for continuation of successful peace talks.
