ORGANIZATION BACKGROUND
The Organization for Policy Research and Development Studies is an organization based in Afghanistan that is committed to strengthening democratic ideas and values by conducting research that provide policy-makers with sound alternative solutions to national issues.

As an interdisciplinary and independent research oriented non-governmental organization, DROPS goal is to facilitate and encourage Afghanistan’s transition to democratic governance through (i) policy-relevant research that provides information and makes available resources to decision-makers at the national and subnational levels, particularly the Upper and Lower Houses of the National Assembly; and (ii) increased women’s involvement in policy dialogue and research on a diverse range of issues in building democratic governance.

DROPS believe that a strong policy-oriented research institute is vital for advancing and shaping the governance agenda in States undergoing transition from war to peace. By generating public policy research, building women’s capacities in conducting evidence-based research and advocating relevant research findings to policy actors, OPRDS ensures that well-informed policy decisions are constructed and result in the betterment of both State and society.

JOB SUMMARY
Under the direct supervision of Coordinator of Secretariat the Public Relation/Event Officer will use all forms of media and communication to organize and oversee PR activities and ensure effective communication with stakeholders, media and the public.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITEIS:
• Planning, developing and implementing communication strategies related to the project;
• Collaborate with internal teams and maintain open communication with senior management;
• Seek opportunities for partnerships, sponsorships and advertising; collating and analyzing media coverage;
• Writing and producing presentations and press releases;
• Preparing and supervising the production of publicity brochures, handouts, direct
• Mail leaflets, promotional videos, photographs, films and multimedia programs;
• Organizing events including press conferences, exhibitions, open days and press tours;
• Maintaining and updating information on the organization’s website;
• Managing and updating information and engaging with users on social media sites
• Such as Twitter, LinkedIn, Youtube and Facebook;
• Assist and facilitate other activities of the DROPS in coordination with AMIP

QUALIFICATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
• Proven expertise and experience of at least 4-5 years working in research, public
• Have an in-depth understanding of Public Speaking, Communication and Media
• Experience in writing and producing reports
• Bachelor’s Degree e in humanities, preferably in Political Science, Peace and Conflict Resolution, Conflict Management or International Relations and/or business administration
• Excellent writing and communication skills in English, Dari and Pashto is a necessary requirement.
• Excellent problem-solving and strategic thinking skills and capabilities.
• Innovative and critical thinking.
